The largest solar park for energy production is located in Dubai.
It is an investment that will cost a total of 50 billion Dirhams ($ 13.6 billion US dolars).
The goal of the city leadership is to produce 75% of the total electricity needed from renewable energy sources by 2050. By 2030 the goal is to be able to produce 5,000MW of energy.
The solar park is called Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park and is the largest of its kind in the world. It is named after the city’s sheikh, who is both vice president and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates. He has recently inaugurated the park.
It will also have the tallest solar tower in the world, with a height of 262.44 meters.
The first part of the project started operating in May 2018 and produces 200MW of energy. The second section that can produce 300MW was put into operation in August of the same year. Its third section currently produces energy for 240,000 inhabitants of the city. The fourth section will generate power for 320,000 people (950MW) and will use hybrid technologies for its purpose. This alone will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1.6 million tons a year.
When the project is completed, it will have the largest energy storage system in the world so that energy can be available 24 hours a day.
The area it covers is 44 square kilometers.
Another thing that is innovative for the park is that there are special robots to clean the photovoltaics so that their efficiency does not decrease. It also offers the lowest energy prices from a solar park worldwide.
The city’s energy strategy aims to attract investors from around the world to set up such facilities, to train people to carry out the work and to hire the best scientists in the field.
In addition to solar energy, the plan includes future investments in renewable energy and green energy.
