Research from the University of Saskatchewan in Canada has shown that stretching is the most important activity to reduce our stress. Even more important than aerobic exercise.
Therefore, those who suffer from hypertension or those who have a tendency to develop it, it would be good to include stretching in their daily routine.
Blood pressure is the main factor for cardiovascular diseases.
The reason that stretching helps reduce hypertension is because it stretches muscles, blood vessels and arteries. This makes the arteries more flexible and thus facilitates blood flow and therefore reduces pressure.
Experiments have shown that stretching achieves a greater reduction in blood pressure than exercise. This does not mean that we stop exercising as we reduce fat, cholesterol and sugar.
