Aileen Wuornos was an American serial killer who killed seven men from 1989 to 1990 in Florida. The reason, she claimed, was because she was raped when she was a prostitute.

She was born in 1956 when her mother was just 17 years old. She had a brother who was a year older. She did not meet her father after he divorced her mother very soon. He was still in and out of jail for sex crimes against minors. The competent doctors considered him schizophrenic. He was eventually found hanged in his cell.

Her mother abandoned her two children when Aileen was four years old and left them to her parents.

From the age of 11 she started having sex in exchange for drugs, cigarettes, alcohol and food. In the future it seemed that she also had an affair with her brother.

Her grandfather abused her sexually and physically. She became pregnant when she was raped by a friend of her grandfather. She finally gave birth in 1970 and gave the baby up for adoption.

A year later her grandfather kicked her out of the house and she started working as a prostitute to make a living. Her home was the forest. She had nowhere to stay.

She got married in 1976 but could not make a living due to her aggressive behavior. The marriage lasted only 9 weeks and she went to prison for what she did to her husband but also in public places.

She was released but continued to enter and leave the prison for quarrels, drugs, illegal possession of weapons and for prostitution.

In 1986 she met a girl in a gay bar and started living with her.

However, she continued to work as a prostitute and it was what led her to the seven brutal murders, claiming self-defense.

She was eventually sentenced to death six times because one of the bodies was not found.

She did not show any remorse for her actions as she admitted that she would do what she did again.

She was executed by injection in prison in 2002.
