Research has shown that overweight teenagers are twice as likely to have a stroke before the age of 50.
The highest body mass index in adolescence is associated with the risk of ischemic stroke in adults under 50.
The survey had 1.9 million participants between 2014 and 2018. There were 1,088 episodes with an average age of 41 years.
Adolescents with obesity were at even greater risk as they were 4 times more likely to have a stroke.
