Research from the University of California has shown that eating avocados reduces obesity. It lasted six months and involved 72 families of Mexican descent in the US with 231 people over the age of five. The reason that families of Mexican origin were chosen is because they have a tendency for obesity and have a reduced income, resulting in a lower quality diet. Also no examinee had a serious or chronic illness.

Avocados increase the feeling of satiety. It is also rich in vitamins C, E, K and B6. And the presence of riboflavin, niacin, magnesium, potassium, xanthophyll, carotene and omega-3 fatty acids reduce hunger.

So families who ate a lot of avocados received reduced calories which means that obesity levels were reduced.
