Miyuki Ishikawe was a midwife and in charge of a maternity hospital.

She studied obstetrics at the University of Tokyo.

She got married but had no children. She lived with her husband, his son and the three children they adopted.

Where she worked lived babies who were abandoned by their parents. Unfortunately due to her negligence, many babies died.

The incident began to escalate when two police officers accidentally found five baby bodies. Autopsies showed that the causes of death were not natural.

Then she and her husband were arrested since he also worked there. Investigations have revealed that at least 70 babies died from neglect. However, the exact number of victims has not been determined.

Since then, Japan has adopted a national midwifery evaluation system and has begun thinking about legalizing abortions.
