The company Nemo’s Garden uses the Siemens Xcelerator to grow underwater crops. This work has been in progress for ten years.

The reason why such infrastructure is needed is because there are areas that can not be cultivated due to weather conditions. Larger areas also need to be exploited to meet future food needs. It is worth mentioning that the surface of the Earth is sea by 71%.

In the required installation the temperature, lighting and humidity are controlled. Still some sensors provide scientists with the information they need to perfect the system. An algorithm was also developed that records data for each plant to maximize efficiency.
