Alan Shepard was an American astronaut, test pilot, naval aviator and businessman.
He was born in 1923.
In 1961 he became the first American and the second man to travel in space. In 1971 he walked on the Moon.
He served his country during World War II.
He retired in 1974 from NASA and the US Navy.
He passed away in 1998 due to leukemia.
