Billy the Kid was an outlaw gunslinger of the Wild West.

He was born in 1859 in New York of Irish parents. His father died when he was 15 and his mother remarried.

At first he lived on rent in a room and soon after he started illegal activities. For this he was arrested several times for stealing food, clothes and weapons. He went to jail but always managed to escape.

In 1877 he killed for the first time in a fight.

He was then hired as protection by a wealthy merchant because he gained a reputation as a skilled gunsmith.

For some time he was wanted for the murder of a policeman. When he was arrested, he agreed to turn in his associates in order to receive amnesty. He waited a few months in prison but seeing no progress in his case, he decided to escape.

He continued his illegal activities until 1881 when he was recaptured and sentenced to death. He escaped again killing two policemen.

A few months later the local sheriff managed to track him down at a friend’s house. He went inside and shot him dead as he slept.
