Compared to before departure, the brains of astronauts who traveled for the first time in space had changes in the perivascular points.
Researchers used magnetic resonance imaging to assess the brains of 15 astronauts before and after multi-month (6 month) missions to the International Space Station. The scans were also compared to people on Earth.
Astronauts who had previously traveled in space did not show any change in their brains. This means that experienced astronauts may reach some kind of homeostasis.
The flow of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain changes when one is in space.
