Donato di Niccolò di Betto Bardi was a Renaissance sculptor from Florence, Italy.

His activity was mainly related to statues of a religious nature. He made sculptures depicting prophets.

He was born in 1386.

He first apprenticed and worked in a silversmith’s workshop and also studied architecture and engineering in Rome from 1404 to 1407.

From 1409 to 1411 he worked for the colossal statue ‘Saint John the Evangelist’.

His other great sculptures were ‘St. Mark’, ‘St. George’, ‘St. Louis of Toulouse’, ‘Pazzi Madonna’, five statues for the church ‘Santa Maria de Fiore’, ‘Crucified’, the relief ‘The Supper of Herod ‘ and the ‘Faith’ and ‘Hope’ statues.
