Michel de Nostradamus was a French pharmacist and astrologer known for the book ‘Les Propheties’. He is considered a representative of the French Renaissance with a great influence on modern education.

He was born in the south of France in 1503 and was of Jewish descent. Little is known about his childhood.

At 15 he entered the University of Avignon to study. For eight years from 1521 he studied herbal medicine and in 1529 he began to study medicine. He also created the ‘rose pill’ to protect against the plague.

In 1531 he married and had two children. In 1534 his family died of plague.

He then continued traveling to France and Italy.

In 1547 he married again and had six children.

In total he wrote 6338 prophecies and two books of medicine.

Many believed that he was a man of the devil, a fraud and a madman.

He died in 1565 from cardiovascular disease.
