The Royal Gorge Bridge is located in Colorado, USA.
It stands 291 meters above the Arkansas River.
It was the tallest bridge in the world from 1929 to 2001. Its total length is 384 meters and its width is 5.5 meters. The towers that support it are 46 meters high. It is made of iron and wood. The maximum load it can accept is 910 tons.
It was built in just six months and is only for pedestrians.
In the 1950s a small railway was added and in the following decade a cable car.
