He was an English archaeologist, soldier and writer known as Lawrence of Arabia. He became known for his exploits on the battlefields of the Middle East. He was distinguished for his kindness and straightforwardness.
He was born in Wales in 1888.
He studied history at Oxford and graduated with honors in 1910.
He took part in excavations that took place in the Middle East from 1911 to 1914. There he learned all the Arabic dialects.
During World War I, he undertook to draw up a military map of the Sinai on behalf of his country. In 1916 he became a member of England’s secret services.
When he was 27, the revolution against the Ottomans was being prepared in Arabia. He then became the leader of groups of Arabs who would fight. He managed to lead them from victory to victory.
He also supported the creation of Arab self-governing states.
By 1919, when he was discharged, he had been promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel.
In 1935, when he was residing in England, he had an accident with his motorcycle. He collided with a car and was fatally injured.
The movie ‘Lawrence of Arabia’ was made about his life in 1962.
