Assunta was a member of organized crime in Italy who became known for murdering her husband’s executioner in revenge.

She was born in 1935 in Naples.

Her father was a smuggler and her uncle a powerful member of the Mafia. Her family’s income was from smuggling cigarettes.

When she was 19 she won a local beauty contest.

In 1955 her husband was murdered by an executioner of a rival mafia organization. At the time Assunta was 6 months pregnant.

The next month, for revenge she went with her brother and found the shooter and shot him 29 times. For this she was sentenced to 18 years in prison. She was finally acquitted in 1965.

She continued to be involved in criminal activities and formed a bond with a drug lord. Together they had twins.

But they divorced when her first son was murdered. She believed her partner was responsible because the former never accepted his mother’s bond.

In 1982 she was arrested again and sentenced to 4 years in prison.

She then lived alone in Sorrento until 2021 when she passed away.
