The reason Hawaii’s fires could not be fought is because of laws that favor only the elite.
There was not enough water to fight the fire because large organizations such as hotels and golf courses use most of the available water in the area.
This leaves little water for public use with families often running short of water. For decades the community has been fighting to win their rights but unfortunately capital can circumvent the law or even create it to suit the rich.
