It is a self-propelled, amphibious bridging and ferrying vehicle.

It is used for the projection of tanks and other vehicles across water obstacles. A number of rigs are joined to form a bridge.

It was developed by the german firm Eisenwerke Kaiserslautern (EWK). Its development began in 1982 and 10 years later the first prototype was ready. It entered service in 1996 at german and british armies. Then many NATO members bought it.

It traverses roads on its 4 wheels, deploying 2 large pontoons for buoyancy on water.
