It is a new technique to synthesize diamonds at atmospheric pressure and temperature in the lab in 15 minutes.
Natural diamonds form in the Earth’s mantle at hundreds of kilometers beneath the surface at tremendous pressures and temperatures.
Researchers of the Institute of Basic Science in South Korea, used gallium with silicon in a graphite crucible.
At the moment, the diamonds created are very small so they cannot be used as jewels but over the time, the technique will be improved.
