Astronauts are exposed to radiation especially during long periods to space.
Recently, the Polymer Chemistry and Biomaterial Group at Ghent University of Belgium created a material called ‘hydrogel’ which is an absorbent polymer.
This material soaks up water which is a good shield for radiation.
It is 3D-printed which means that it can be created at almost any shape.
