Hawaii Volcanoes National Park includes two volcanoes. One is Kilauea which is one of the most active in the world and the second is Mauna Loa which is the largest volcano in size in the world.

For scientists, volcanic activity is indicative of how the Hawaiian Islands were created. Research is also being conducted on volcanology.

But visitors can go to the park to see the volcanic landscapes, admire the rare flora and fauna and get to know the traditional culture of Hawaii.

Since 1916 it is considered a national park. Since 1987 it has been included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

In May 2018 the park was closed due to volcanic eruptions, ash in the atmosphere and damage to the road network due to earthquakes. By 2020 most of the park has reopened to the public.
