The Cave of the Hands is located in the Santa Cruz region of southern Argentina. It is located in the valley of the river Pintoura in Patagonia and is known for hand paintings on its walls.
The first murals are estimated to have been created 13,000 years ago. The most recent ones seem to have taken place around 7,300 BC.
Historically, it appears that several groups of people inhabited the cave. The last time may have been in 700 BC.
The cave is located at a depth of 24 meters and its internal height is 2 meters. Its entrance is 15 meters wide and 10 meters high.
In addition to hands, there are depictions of people, animals and hunting scenes. The same thing happens in nearby caves.
It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999.
