The Pyramids of Giza are of the oldest surviving buildings and the most famous of all the pyramids in the world.

Their construction dates back to 2580 BC. from the 4th Dynasty of the Egyptians.

It is a complex of three structures used for the burial of the Pharaohs.

The place where they are located is called the Necropolis of Giza. The Great Sphinx is located in the same place.

The Pyramids of Giza are three buildings. The largest of the three is called the Pyramid of Cheops or the Great Pyramid and is the place where that Pharaoh is buried. The second largest is called the Pyramid of Hefrinos and is the tomb of the Pharaoh who succeeded Cheops. The smallest is the Pyramid of Mycenae. Mycerinos is buried there, who is the Pharaoh who succeeded Hefrinos.

The Pyramid of Cheops is 146.6 meters high. Its base is square with a side of 230.35 meters. Its volume is 2,521,000 cubic meters and its weight is estimated at 6.5 million tons. Externally the pyramid is paved with granite slabs. Inside there are labyrinths and corridors to prevent easy access.

These pyramids are the oldest of the seven wonders of the ancient world.

The construction lasted 30 years and 100,000 workers and slaves worked to complete the project.
