Luciano Pavarotti was an Italian tenor known for his high-pitched talent. His voice was very clear and of tonal precision. That is why he was named the “king of high do”.
He was born in 1935 in Modena, Italy. His father was a baker.
He started working as a music teacher. It was not until the 1950s that he decided to become a singer.
His great career began in 1961 when he won the Reggio Emilia competition and when he sang in the opera Puccini. In this way he became famous in Italy.
In 1963 he appeared abroad for the first time, specifically in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Until 1965 he sang in the biggest operas in Europe with great success.
His fame began to grow in America, Australia and the Far East where he sang.
In 2004 it was the last time he sang in opera although he continued to sing in concerts.
His last appearance was in 2006 at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics.
He was honored with 5 Grammy Awards.
In the last years of his life he suffered from pancreatic cancer. He passed away in 2007 in his hometown.
