Ada Lovelace was an English mathematician, engineer, programmer, computer scientist, researcher, poet, translator and author.
She was the Countess of Lovelace after she married the Earl of the area with whom she had three children.
She was born in 1815 in London. Her father was Lord Byron. Her parents divorced when she was just one year old. Her father died when she was eight years old.
Her mother then undertook her education in mathematics and music.
When she was 17 she was taught by the great Scottish astronomer Mary Somerville. Through her she met Charles Babbage, who invented one of the earliest automatic calculators, and with whom they collaborated on the Analytical Machine.
She worked for the University of Cambridge and was able to present a design that is considered the first computer program. In 1843 she explained that this machine in the future, could solve mathematical problems, compose music and produce graphics.
She died of uterine cancer in 1852.
The British IT Company awards a medal with its name every year.
