The Grand Palace of Bangkok is the symbol of Thailand.

Every year thousands of people visit it to admire it.

Construction began in 1782 to become the royal residence. Until 1925 it was used for this purpose. Today it opens only for important ceremonies.

There is the Temple of the Emerald Buddha in which there is an emerald statue representing the Buddha. It is carved and made of green jade and is located among gold sculptures, ornaments and murals.

The Throne Room is adorned with royal portraits. But now it is used for ceremonies of the royal family.

The Palace was formerly the residence of the prince but nowadays hosts foreign leaders visiting Thailand.

The Garden was a place of recreation for the royal family which today is only part of receptions.

There is a dress code for visitors for both men and women.
