China’s new military aircraft is the Xian KJ-600 and has already made its maiden flight. It is the second country to build such an aircraft after the United States.
At the moment it cannot be used in the two aircraft carriers that the country has, but there is provision for it to be in the new aircraft carrier that is being prepared. This new aircraft carrier will have a flat platform and an electromagnetic catapult so that this aircraft can take off from it. The two existing aircraft carriers have a ski-jump platform.
The aircraft will have wings that fold to save space on the aircraft carrier. It has many similarities to the American E-2 Hawkeye.
In 2018, there were reports from Chinese officials that it would be able to detect US F-35 and F-22 aircraft.
