Confucius was a Chinese thinker and social philosopher who influenced East Asia. He was also the founder of the Rou School of Chinese Thought.
He is compared to Socrates who influenced the West.
He was born in 551 BC. At the age of three he lost his father. He studied ritual and music. At the age of 19 he married and had a son and two daughters.
He worked as a home teacher and then devoted himself to political science.
In his 50s he was appointed Minister of Public Works and then took over the Ministry of Justice. He was later exiled due to disagreements with the country’s aristocracy.
He died in 479 BC.
