For this purpose, a huge device was built that will be able to withstand the strongest ocean currents and convert their energy into electricity.
IHI Corporation has been working towards this goal for over ten years.
It will consist of a central shaft of 20 meters and two generators of the same dimensions. These generators will be connected to blades which will be rotated by the currents of the sea.
It is built to be about 50 meters below the sea surface and able to align itself with the currents to receive maximum energy.
It will be able to produce 205 Gigawatts of energy.
If all goes as the designers expect then more and bigger units of this type will be built.
