Shakuntala Devi became known for her ability to do complex arithmetic calculations in a matter of seconds.
He was born in Bangalore, India in 1929.
It was her father who discovered her strong memory when he was teaching her card tricks when she was just three years old.
Then he started touring with her. First in India and then all over the world.
In 1977 Shakuntala competed against a computer in the US to find the cube root of the number 188,132,517 the fastest, and she won. In the same year he was able to find the 23rd root of a number with 201 digits in 50 seconds. A year later he multiplied the numbers 7,686,369,774,870 and 2,465,099,745,779 in 28 seconds.
She also dabbled in astrology.
She wrote books on astrology, cookery and novels.
She died in her hometown in 2013.
