The rivers which are the pillars of the European economy are ‘evaporating’. Their level is decreasing and soon they will be unreachable.

Enormous problems are created in the Rhine, the Danube and the Po. The latter is Italy’s river responsible for irrigating 30% of the country’s agricultural production. Barges can no longer satisfactorily deliver material goods.

In France rivers play the main way of cooling power plants as well as nuclear reactors.

In 2018, the economic damage due to drought in Europe amounted to 5 billion euros.

Also very worrying is that the ground is parched which means that if there is rain the underground water reservoirs will have to be filled first and then the rivers will be able to be filled.
