Virginia Hill was a person involved in organized crime in the USA. She became famous after being the girlfriend of a notorious mobster, Benjamin Siegel as well as several other mobsters.
She was born in 1916 in Alabama. When she was 8 years old her parents divorced. She left school at 14 and got married a year later. This marriage lasted 3 years.
In 1933 she went to Chicago to become a porn star. She also worked as a prostitute and eventually joined the Chicago Outfit criminal organization. Initially she was a message carrier between the mobsters of the organization. In the organization she also had a connection with Al Capone.
She then moved to New York to keep tabs on a rival organization. She became the girlfriend of a mobster who was related to that.
‘Time’ magazine called her the ‘Queen of the gangsters’ molls’.
In 1950 she married an Austrian businessman and had a son.
When she was persecuted by the authorities in 1954, she went to Europe to live with her son.
In 1966 she committed suicide with an overdose of pills.
Her action is presented in the films Virginia Hill, Bugsy and The damned don’t cry.
