The Dolomites are a mountain range in northeastern Italy, part of the Alps.
It is a national park and was declared a World Heritage Site in 2009.
They got their name from the rock dolomite which was also named by the mineralogist Dolomier.
They are recommended for winter skiing, mountaineering, hiking and climbing.
