The well-known French tire manufacturer Michelin aims to launch airless tires on the market by 2024.
Tires of this type have been under development for over a decade.
Their advantages are that they do not puncture, so they can be used more. This is something that reduces costs for the vehicle owner. It is worth mentioning that 18% of tires are discarded prematurely and this is because a hole was created in the tread. This also means that fewer tires will be discarded which is better for the environment.
Currently the company produces these tires using partially recycled materials but the goal is to produce them entirely from such materials in the future.
