Baba Anujka is considered a serial killer who created poisonous chemical concoctions, which she sold to her clients to kill someone. Her victims are estimated from 50 to 150. The names given to her for her murderous action were ‘Witch of Banat’ and ‘Witch of Vladimirovac’.
She was born in 1838 and was Romanian. Her father was a rich farm owner for this and was able to send his daughter to a school that only rich children attended.
From an early age she showed her interest in medicine and chemistry. That’s why she studied chemistry. She spoke 5 languages.
She married a rich landowner who was considerably older than her. They had 11 children together but only 1 survived.
She set up a laboratory in her home and gained a reputation as a good healer. Because of this she was able to earn a very good income.
But she started making poisonous chemical compounds for her clients who wanted to kill someone.
The police were able to charge her in 1928, when she was 90 years old. Her sentence was 15 years in prison but she stayed there for 8 years because of her old age.
She died in 1938.
