He was a German engineer, electrician, inventor, industrialist and founder of the Siemens company.

He was born in 1816 in a town near Hanover. His parents were farmers who had 14 children.

He joined the army so that he could receive technical training in engineering.

After the army he was involved in inventions. In 1847 he built an electric telegraph.

He then founded the company that bears his name. Thus he was able to develop the telegraph line between Berlin and Frankfurt.

His brothers represented the company abroad.

In 1865 he built the 1st dynamo-electric machine with tympanoid induction and 4 years later the 1st electric railway.

In 1888 he received the title Von from the German emperor.

2 years later he will leave the company.

In 1892 he died of pneumonia.

He married 2 times and had 3 children.

The unit of electrical conductivity in space is named after him.
