This new manufacturing approach saves both material and time. The laser powder bed fusion technique has brought down the number of engine parts from 14 to 1.
The PS4 engine will be used in India’s PSLV rocket.
This engine was tested in May 2024 by Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) for 665 seconds.
It will be powered by hypergolic mix of nitrogen tetroxide and monomethyl hydrazine.
