A British poet, considered the greatest dramatist of all time and England’s national poet. He was also a playwright and actor of the Renaissance era.
He was born in 1564 in Stratford of England. His father was a glove-maker and leather merchant and his mother a local heiress.
His life is shrouded in mystery. No birth records and not enough details of his personal life.
He wrote 37 plays from 1590 and 1613 related to history, tragedy and comedy. Also he wrote 154 sonnets and 2 narrative poems, the ‘Venus and Adonis’ in 1593 and the ‘The rape of Lucrece’ in 1594.
The same year, he became important member of the King’s Men theatrical company.
In 1582 he got married to Anne Hathaway and they had 3 children. Then he was 18 and she was 26.
In 1599 with fellow actors, they built their own theater in London called ‘Globe Theater’.
He passed away in 1616.
