SpaceX will ‘catch’ the Starship rocket with huge arms

The next test flight of the huge Starship rocket will involve trying to ‘catch’ it by huge robotic arms, allowing it to be reused.

This method, if successful, will fully utilize the capabilities of the Starship and its launcher, the Super Heavy.

The proposed method is to use the 146 meter high Mechazilla tower which has robotic arms to ‘catch’ the missile. Construction of Mechazilla began in 2021.

The missile’s launcher, the Super Heavy, will separate from the missile in flight and return to the launch site.

There the arms will ‘grab’ it and place it on the launch pad.
