She was an English author who wrote the well-known novels ‘Jane Eyre’, Shirley’, ‘Villette’ and ‘The Professor’.

She was born in 1816 and attended a church school. She grew up with her aunt after her mother died of cancer.

The poor conditions of the school affected her health and caused the death of her 2 brothers from tuberculosis.

She worked as a housekeeper for several families.

She also worked as a teacher in a boarding school.

She died in 1855, 1 year after her marriage while pregnant.
