He was a German astronomer who described the elliptical motion of the planets around the Sun, as opposed to circular orbits believed by his colleagues.

He was born in 1571 and from a very young age showed great interest in celestial bodies and phenomena.

He studied mathematics and graduated in 1591.

In 1596 he published his book Mysterium Cosmographicum.

In 1600 he moved to Prague and became the emperor’s astronomer.

In 1605 he concluded that the planet Mars had an elliptical orbit and not a circular one.

He contributed to the development of the science that describes the laws of motion of the planets around the Sun and formulated theories for optical lenses and telescopes.
