The existing programs of 6th generation fighter jets

The 6^th generation fighter jets will have improved maneuverability, artificial intelligence will be integrated, they will be able to operate in contested environments, they will have enhanced stealth capability, advanced sensors, they will carry hypersonic missiles and directed-energy weapons. It is possible that these jets may be tailless.

The existing programs for such jets are:

• Future Combat Air System (FCAS): The countries involved are France, Germany and Spain. The companies implementing the project are Dassault Aviation, Airbus, Indra Systemas, Safran, Thales, MBDA and MTU.
• Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP): The countries are Britain, Italy, Japan and Sweden. The companies are BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Leonardo and  Mitsubishi Electric.
• China is working for creating the J-28 fighter.
• Russia prepares the MiG-41
• American company, Boeing is working on the F/A-XX program.
• American companies, Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman are working for the NGAD F-X program.
