She was an English writer, philosopher, historian, entrepreneur and advocate for women’s rights.

She was born in 1759 in London.

She wrote philosophical and political works, novels, travelogues, the history of the French Revolution, translations, essays and children’s books.

She became known for her pioneering work ‘A Vindication of the Rights of Women’ which she wrote in 1792.

With this book she formulated the argument for women’s political rights. She pointed out that women can be rational players in various fields.

She died in 1797 from postnatal complications, shortly after the birth of her 2nd daughter.
