He was an American Muslim cleric and civil rights activist.

For some, he was a courageous defender of African Americans and for others, a violent racist and anti-Semite.

He was born in 1925. His real name was Malcolm Little. His father was an active defender of African American rights who was killed by a racist organization. His uncle was massacred by extremists.

When he was 13 years old, his mother was admitted to a psychiatric hospital so he was given to foster families.

In 1946, he went to prison for theft, where he converted to Islam.

He proclaimed the superiority of blacks over whites. He sought the secession of 2 to 3 states of the United States to create a state only for African Americans.

In 1964 he toured Africa and the Middle East and upon returning to the United States he founded the Muslim Mosque and Afro-American Unity Organization.

1 year later he was assassinated by gunmen during a speech.
